The Specialist Palliative Care Team at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin (OLCHC) is led by Dr Mary Devins and a team of Clinical Nurse Specialists.  Dr Devins is Ireland’s first Consultant Paediatrician with a special interest in  Paediatric Palliative Medicine and joined the team in 2011. The team which includes Dr Maeve O’Reilly and Dr Marie Twomey, both Adult Palliative Medicine Physicians, and a Specialist Registrar training in Adult Palliative Medicine  have a national role in supporting clinicians, nurses and allied health and social care professionals who provide palliative care to children and their families. They also provide leadership and support to the Children’s Outreach Nurses for children with life-limiting conditions.

Professional development, training and education is key to the delivery of high quality care and the Centre of Children’s Nurse Education (CCNE) facilitates education programmes to support registered nurses, midwives and allied health and social care professionals to provide this care.
