Dr Owens is a Consultant Paediatric Oncologist at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Dublin. He trained initially in Dublin, followed by fellowships at Institut Gustave Roussy, Paris and the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto. He was a staff physician at Sick Kids before returning home to Dublin in 2013. Dr Owens is the national clinical lead for neuroblastoma and paediatric sarcomas. He is a member of the European Neuroblastoma Society Executive and Clinical Trials Committees.
He is the director of the national paediatric oncology innovative therapies programme and he is co-director of the national paediatric oncology shared care programme. He has a particular interest in clinical trial design and chemotherapy safety and is a member of the Children’s Oncology Group and OLCHC chemotherapy standardisation committees.
